Uga will host this weekend an enogastronomic festival on the occasion of the Winerun Lanzarote 2015, in which ten wineries, three cheese factories and ten "outstanding" restaurants on the island will participate. In addition, several concerts will provide music for this 'Fine Food Festival'.
This enogastronomic fair, which is held in parallel to the organization of the wine race through La Geria, will open its doors on Saturday from 6:00 p.m., one hour after the start of the delivery and collection of bib numbers to athletes, which will also take place at the same location.
On Sunday the 14th, the day of the competition, the Fine Food Festival will start at 10:30 a.m., also coinciding with the opening of the craft market and the Uga market. From this time, the arrival at the finish line of the first runners is scheduled, who, as winners of this sporting event, will reach, once again, their weight in wine.
Concerts by Plan B and Salvapantallas
On Saturday the 13th, the fair will close at 11:00 p.m., after the concert by the well-known reggaeton duo Plan B, which will begin its performance at this Uga fairground at 9:00 p.m. This group, made up of cousins and singers Chencho (Orlando Javier Valle Vega) and Maldy (Edwin Vázquez Vega) from Puerto Rico, have been recognized in the Latin American market with record sales that have reached 50,000 copies of their album 'El Mundo de Plan B: Los que la Montan' (2002). This earned them their first gold record and a strong position in the reggaeton genre, with collaborations with the popular Daddy Yankee and Guelo Star, among others.
On Sunday the 14th, the party continues with other activities parallel to the festival and the race and with the concert by the Gran Canaria group Salvapantallas, which will transport the attending public to the eighties with the best-known versions of the time. The Salvapantallas will perform at 1:30 p.m., along with other local musicians as surprise guests, offering a concert 'Por La Geria'. The 'Fine Food Festival' will close at 3:00 p.m.
"This event is part of the 'Salvar La Geria' project, which pursues the economic, cultural, environmental and tourist sustainability of this landscape through wine tourism, hiking, the recovery of degraded agricultural spaces and the enhancement of traditional paths, among other actions," explain from the Cabildo de Lanzarote, which contributes to the organization of the Festival together with other institutions and private companies. A percentage of the proceeds obtained from race registrations and the sale of soft drinks, water and other beverages will be used to finance social projects. The Association for Disability Adislan is a collaborator in this project.
