The Lanzarote Limpia collective and volunteers residing in Lanzarote and the neighboring island of Fuerteventura joined forces this Sunday to free the coast of Playa Blanca from plastics, cans, bottles and all kinds of waste.
The action was carried out in the Faro de Pechiguera area, a place that witnessed the integration of “the united hands of half a hundred volunteers under the mantle of the same purpose, an irrefutable logic: there is no planet B, there is no plan B”, according to a post published on social networks by Lanzarote Limpia.
The Yaiza City Council has made public its gratitude to the participants in this cleaning. The mayor, Óscar Noda, and the Councilor for the Environment, Águeda Cedrés, who participated in the day, highlighted “not only the importance of the voluntary act of cleaning, which is a great altruistic work, but also the awareness message that the group of men and women who spare no effort to help conserve a cleaner environment conveys to society as a whole.”
Lanzarote Limpia had the logistical collaboration of the Yaiza City Council and the support of the entities Limpiaventura, Kayak Lanzarote, Pura Vida Diving, Fight for Nature Lanzarote, Dignitatis, Unitatem et Pugna, Coup Cleaner Ocean Upcycling Productions, Chiringuito Tropical and Protección Civil Yaiza.
Audiovisual arts students from the Pancho Lasso School followed up on this day, which also had the solidarity gesture of collecting perishable food among the volunteers to get it to vulnerable families.
