The program "Aquí hay trabajo" of the second channel of TVE has noticed the employment possibilities of the cultivation of cochineal and intends to tell all viewers through a report that is already recording in the municipality of Haría. A team from the channel is visiting the northern town and taking the images that will be used for the report.
The exhibition where the processes of obtaining dyes are staged from cultivation to treatment; the workshops of the Colegio Las Mercedes de Mala, where the Cochineal Recovery project began, as well as the citizenship committee in which the mayor, the environment councilor, and neighbors discuss the future of cochineal and its viability as a way to get employment, are some of the aspects that will reflect in the report the culture of cochineal in Lanzarote.
For the mayor of the municipality, José Torres Stinga, the importance lies in the fact that a national television is interested in this project, because "this shows, like the appearance of an article in the newspaper El País, that with time the Cochineal Rescue project crosses borders", and that "allows to publicize this traditional crop of the northern area of the Island".
