Tías launches a campaign to recruit volunteers for its Civil Protection group

The Tías City Council has launched a campaign to recruit volunteers for the municipality's Civil Protection service. The City Council is thus looking for new members to collaborate in the multiple prevention and security functions carried out by this group. Interested adults may submit their application forms to the City Council Registry.

Once selected, applicants will receive a training course that aims to "provide volunteers with the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential to provide the service effectively", explained the City Council, which adds that this will also include the completion of "specialization practices".

The Civil Protection team of Tías, which the City Council highlights is made up of young and "committed" people, currently has 40 volunteers and also has technical means, including 8 vehicles and an "fully equipped ambulance, which allows to offer greater assistance and speed in emergency situations or evacuations", explains the City Council.

That Civil Protection Unit "is the system by which assistance and protection of people, the environment and property are provided in the event of any type of accident or catastrophe and during the different cultural, sports or festive activities that take place in the municipality or when specific events occur that require the presence of specialized personnel".

They have intervened in 210 services so far this year

The Civil Protection Service of the Tías City Council has an "intense activity" throughout the year and always works in close collaboration with other security forces and bodies, such as the Local Police or the Security and Emergency Consortium. Thus, according to City Council data, between January and August its volunteers have provided assistance in 210 services.

The members of the unit have invested a total of 840 hours in these services, distributed among cultural, sports and festive events, in addition to 80 health care services. Likewise, as detailed in the report of the report of the services carried out by Civil Protection of Tías, 60 interventions have been carried out on public roads, among which traffic accidents, incidents in homes stand out, as a result of adverse weather phenomena or, for example, in the burning of containers. The rest of the services corresponded to training, coordination and simulation maneuvers.

The Government group of Tías has highlighted the "important work carried out by the volunteers" of Civil Protection, who "are an example of selfless dedication and commitment to our municipality".

From the City Council they appreciate "the effort and dedication of these volunteers who work altruistically", while inviting all those citizens, of legal age and "willing to collaborate", to register in the City Council and "become part of the great family of Civil Protection of Tías that, without a doubt, has become an important support for the forces and security forces of the State in points where a large population is concentrated, such as festivals, concerts, pilgrimages, sporting or cultural events". "On many occasions, they are the first to arrive when an accident occurs," they emphasize.
