About eight thousand people, according to data from the Teguise city council, came this Friday, July 4, to celebrate the fourth edition of the White Night of Teguise, an event registered as its own by the Teguise City Council and which has been awarded as Distinguished of Tourism in 2012. A total of 21 bars or restaurants and more than 15 small businesses were in charge of adding color to one of the most important nights for the municipality.

The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, wants to thank, in his name and in that of the Corporation he represents, "the tremendous effort made by numerous people whom it is impossible to name individually to ensure that the White Night has become one of the events that cannot be missed in the calendar of cultural, social and leisure activities that are held every year on the island of Lanzarote."

The mayor points out "that without the effort of all those people it would have been impossible for thousands of people to come from the early hours of Friday afternoon to the historic center of La Villa, where the organization of a complex event that opens an entire town wide open until late at night was close to perfection." "It would be impossible to name everyone, but I would especially like to thank the effort made by the people of the City Council, the workers, technicians and councilors who have dedicated themselves to the organization of the White Night, and especially also that of the businesses of La Villa, without which it would have been impossible to attend to so many people in conditions, as well as to thank their effort to those who have made it possible for public transport to work like never before, especially the taxi drivers of the municipality," he commented extremely satisfied.

All the devices planned for Friday night worked without any problems. In addition to the taxi drivers, the bus service arranged between the City Council and the Cabildo fulfilled its objective, as did the car parks set up for the occasion, the same ones that allow thousands of people to visit what is undoubtedly the best and most unique market in the Canary Islands every Sunday. In addition, the security device also ensured that no incident worthy of mention occurred.

For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Daniel Morales, also wanted to join the congratulations and recognitions of the mayor, which in his case also transferred to the artists who enlivened each of the corners of the historic center with their music and art. "Without the fun this party would not make much sense, because in addition to culture people also want leisure, and we have been able to give it to them one more year. The fact that people come from all corners of the Island, the fact that each musical performance is followed with attention by all of them, is proof that things are being done well," he also stressed, satisfied.

The mayor of Teguise also wanted to thank the presence of public officials from other municipalities and even other islands. In particular, he was especially pleased that the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Morales, enjoyed with him and his colleagues throughout the day, and "went to Fuerteventura happy to see that it was not exaggerated when talking about the success and consolidation of an event such as the White Night", added Oswaldo.
