The seaside neighborhood of Valterra is in mourning this Thursday for the death of Juan Fernández, the last person to die from Covid on the island.

Juan lived in the 80 homes of Valterra and "always collaborated a lot with the festivities". "He was the one who worked everything, the one who prepared everything, both at Christmas and at the Carmen festivities", says José Cruz, a resident of this neighborhood, who remembers him as a "very good person".

"He also dedicated himself a lot to the Valterra soccer club, he went there a lot, and he collaborated with everyone", adds this neighbor, who regrets his death.

Juan Fernández was 74 years old and had been admitted to the ICU of the Molina Orosa Hospital for about 21 days, according to one of his three children told La Voz. "We are devastated," he said.
