With great solemnity, the residents of the town of Mácher celebrated the festival of Patrón San Pedro. At 6:30 p.m. the celebration of the Holy Mass began, presided over by the former parish priest of Tías, Ambrosio Sebastián, currently parish priest of San Isidro Labrador in Montaña Cardones Gran Canaria, assisted by Jesús Vega, who also served as parish priest in Tías in the eighties and is currently a parish priest in the Cruce de Arinaga in Gran Canaria. In addition, the titular parish priest of Tías, Agustín Lasso, participated. The residents of Mácher were very happy to be able to share the Holy Mass again on the day of San Pedro with Ambrosio and Jesús.
For such a special celebration, they had the collaboration of the Marina de Puerto del Carmen Choir, directed by Professor Miguel Ángel Cabrera, in charge of the songs for the celebration. Minutes before the end of the Holy Mass, some children from the town, dressed in sailor clothes from La Graciosa, recited some verses to San Pedro. Then the procession began, headed by the Municipal Music Band of Tías, directed by Professor Javier Torres, followed by the image of San Pedro. The celebrating priests, authorities and parishioners toured the main road of the town, upon returning and in the tent installed next to the church, the Gaida Folk Group of Tías offered the offering to San Pedro with the best of the traditional songs and dances of the Canary Islands.
Immediately afterwards, the public went to the hall of the Socio-Cultural Center to enjoy the singer Lenny González, who set the rhythm for the night with her rancheras and boleros, counting on the complicity of the public. The finishing touch to the day was given by Maestro Florido, a great humorist who, with great skill and ease, burst the audience into laughter, who enthusiastically asked him to continue with the performance.
