The fifth and sixth grade students of the 'Colegio Santa Maria de los Volcanes Nazaret' in Arrecife are fighting against the misuse of new technologies within the 'Design for Change' program, and last Friday, February 2, they went to the Arrecife City Council where they delivered and read a manifesto at the doors of the capital's consistory.

Under the slogan 'The generation of change has arrived!', the fifth and sixth grade students are taking measures against the misuse of technology and the addictions it can cause. They expressed their discomfort and expressed the "urgent need for change." These young defenders of digital responsibility have taken their message beyond the classroom, walking the streets of Arrecife to "raise awareness" among the population about the importance of responsible use of technology and taking care of time outside the network.

Under the guidance of their teachers, the students have explored the "negative impacts" of the misuse of technology and related addictions. They have understood the need for a change in society to promote a more conscious use of technology.

The students have become agents of change. They have walked the streets of the city, sharing information and positive messages about digital responsibility, they have worked tirelessly to raise awareness among the population about the importance of disconnecting and taking care of our mental health.

In a symbolic act, the students read a manifesto at the doors of the education council in the Arrecife City Council that reflects their concerns and proposals for a positive change. They have made it clear that technology is a "powerful tool", but its misuse can have "harmful consequences". They have urged society to reflect on its relationship with technology and to adopt healthier practices. "This project has taught us that technology can be wonderful if we use it correctly. We want people to understand that we can take control of our digital lives," the statement reads.

These brave students remind us of the importance of taking care of our time away from screens and using technology consciously.

In addition, the Colegio Santa Maria de los Volcanes Nazaret invites the community to join this cause, reflect on the use of technology and contribute to positive change. "Together, we can create a healthier and more balanced digital environment," they add.
