The sports hall of the IES Costa Teguise can finally be used in the afternoons, outside of school hours

The Sports Councilor of the Teguise City Council, Echedey Eugenio, has announced that starting this Thursday, the Sports Hall of the IES Costa Teguise will be available to the AMPA, the center, and the residents of the tourist town, and will have municipal personnel. After the School Council held this Tuesday, Eugenio has assured that "the bureaucratic procedures have been expedited and the detected deficiencies have been corrected, in order to guarantee the safety of the users of the activity and the facilities themselves."

The streamlining of these procedures coincides with the protest carried out by around 40 people in the middle of the month in front of the doors of the IES of Costa Teguise, to demand the opening of the pavilion so that children could enjoy sports activities in the afternoon, after school hours. "We all met for the common good of the children of Costa Teguise. It is a very large population and has no sports center. There is no one to organize activities," said the president of the AMPA of the Institute and the school, Blanca Torres.

Now, in the last School Council, the City Council, the management team and representatives of the AMPA finally reached an agreement on how to manage the use of the facility, as well as the criteria for distributing the hours equitably. Specifically, the City Council will make this facility available to the students of IES Costa Teguise, starting this Thursday, from Monday to Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The pavilion has 1,350 square meters.

According to the Consistory, it will serve as a sports venue and will offer most of the disciplines of the municipal sports schools. In addition, the students and the 8,000 people who make up the current resident population of Costa Teguise can benefit from this facility, "as long as they explicitly request it from the Department of Sports of the Teguise City Council."

Eugenio wanted to thank "the good predisposition shown by the educational community of Costa Teguise so that the pavilion is functioning one hundred percent and can accommodate the maximum number of possible users."
