On the eve of Canary Islands Day, all schools dedicate the day to representing the manifestations of music, dances, traditions and gastronomy of the islands. The César Manrique Cabrera school in Tahíche chose the sports court as the stage to carry out a varied and extensive representation such as the "Vará del Pesca´o", a maritime tradition with which the old fishermen are honored, who when they returned from fishing, beached their boats on the shore of Arinaga beach, in the municipality of Agüimes, making the sea shells sound.
Another of the representations that was present was the traditional pilgrimage of San Marcos in Tegueste, where thousands of pilgrims participate wearing typical costumes accompanied on the route of the carts, which are decorated with paintings made with natural products from the field such as lentils, peas and chickpeas.
A representation of the "Danza de Chimiche" also paraded through the court, also known as the "Danza de las Varas", a town located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona in Tenerife. The dancers, dressed in striking clothes and handling rods adorned with paper ribbons of various colors, perform the different choreographies, in an expression typical of Cimiche that does not occur in other towns in the Canary Islands.
The students of typical dances of the school, directed by the teacher, Violeta Santos, performed on the day. Boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 10 danced several traditional pieces, highlighting the malagueña. The touch teacher, Antonio Monzón, also attended the event with his students, interpreting the most representative of Canarian folklore, in a day where once again the relatives of the students who came to the school were able to enjoy seeing how the little ones followed each of the instructions of their teachers to the letter, leaving the traditional "Dance of the Dwarfs" of La Palma for the end. Throughout the development of the festive day, applause was very present as a sign of reward for the great effort made by the teachers and students, who once again set the bar very high.
