The rain has once again caused flooding in several streets of Arrecife, mainly in the neighborhoods of Argana Alta and Titerroy. Several roads have been flooded, after the sewers burst as they could not withstand the passage of water.
One of the biggest problems is on Tajaraste street, where "two days ago" they opened the street to start laying the pipes for the rainwater works. "So much water has gone down that everything is flooded", said Andrés Medina, a resident of the neighborhood, who assures that the problem is "enormous".
A worker from one of the companies located on Tenderete street, in Argana, has assured La Voz that the smell is "unbearable", and there is even "shit, toilet paper and even sanitary pads" on the road. "It's disgusting, it's a shame because only two drops have fallen here. It's very unpleasant to see this when you leave your job", she said.
And this resident believes that the Arrecife City Council "is making fun of people". "They have been warned 20,000 times. Here all the companies and residents pay their taxes and fulfill their obligations. Meanwhile, the City Council ignores it. It's incredible", she criticized.
In addition, there are also traffic problems in the vicinity of the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, where another sewer has burst in the roundabout, as well as in the El Charco de San Ginés area.
"Crossing in a boat" in Titerroy
From Titerroy, the president of the neighborhood association, Ismael Montero, explained that the biggest problems are on Tinache street, where "several sewers have burst", on José Pereyra street and on Hermanos Álvarez Quintero. "To cross you have to go with a boat. The water that is coming out is disgusting, especially the one that comes from Argana", he complained.
Montero cannot explain why the City Council does not take measures and solve this issue, which seems "not to be a priority". "One day a real one will fall and Arrecife will disappear", he stated.
