A total of 17 inmates from the Tahíche Penitentiary Center have participated for six months in a pattern making and fashion workshop that culminated in a catwalk for the prisoners of the respect modules and a small group of guests and family members, according to La Provincia.

Specifically, 14 men and three women participated in the fashion show organized within the project 'Retopía, the art of the impossible', launched by prison official and designer Arcadio Rodríguez, who in 2009 won the Award for the Best Collection of the 20th edition of the National Fashion Awards for New Designers, now adapting part of this collection to the project he is developing in the penitentiary center.

"Although I am a designer, I was clear that I wanted to be a prison official to make this project a reality," Rodríguez said in statements to La Provincia, in which he stressed that the choice of Lanzarote for his destination was partly due to the fact that it was the island of César Manrique.

In fact, coinciding with the celebration next year of the centenary of the birth of the artist from Lanzarote, the designer Arcadio Rodríguez has presented a project to the Cabildo of Lanzarote so that his work is known among the inmates of the Tahíche Penitentiary Center.
