The seaside town of Órzola experienced this Friday the beginning of the festivities in honor of Our Lady Rosa de Lima, with one of the most popular and massive events such as the Fiesta de la Pamela. An event organized for the tenth year by the City Council of Haría in collaboration with the Festival Committee, which brought together more than five thousand people on Caletón Blanco beach, dressed in strict white and with hats, each more original and extravagant, to enjoy a summer night of good atmosphere and the music of DJs Juan Hernández, Ivan & Basi and Ray Castellano.

With the town decorated for the occasion from early on, the joy of the neighbors was mixed with that of the thousands of visitors who were gradually arriving to Órzola from different points of Lanzarote and even other islands, attracted by the repercussion that the event has been acquiring. After the traditional dip in the dock at noon and the lighting of the inaugural lighting of the festivities, it was time to show off pamelas amidst laughter and revelry that lasted without notable incidents until well into the morning.

"This is a consolidated and highly anticipated festival not only by the people of Haría, but by many people from Lanzarote and other islands, as it has become an attraction for all the Canary Islands," said Mayor Marci Acuña. Who also highlighted "the exemplary display of civility and good behavior with which this fantastic event has been experienced, which has been a great success thanks to the participation and involvement of the Festival Committee and the extensive security, transport and cleaning device that we have deployed".

In this sense, the mayor of Haría especially thanked the work of controlling the capacity carried out by the volunteers of Civil Protection of Haría and the municipality of Tías; and the coordination of the Local Police of Haría and the Local Police of Teguise, with Chief Officer Javier Machín at the head of the security actions of the festival, which included, as the most outstanding incident, the arrest and making available to the courts, of an individual as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of eight mobile phones during the night.

Likewise, once the Fiesta de la Pamela was over, the City Council of Haría carried out an important cleaning deployment, with numerous technical and human resources, in the surroundings of Caletón Blanco, which resulted in the collection of more than five thousand kilos of garbage. In this way, the beach once again showed an immaculate image at seven in the morning, without affecting the enjoyment of the space by users.

The festivities in honor of Our Lady Rosa de Lima will continue until next Thursday, August 25, with different cultural, leisure and sports events. Among which are the surf and stand up paddle workshops; film creation workshop and film screenings; baking contest; ball, envite and truco championships; beach soccer tournaments; Canarian party; children's party; food collection; sky observation; magic show; the humor of Omayra Cazorla; and the concerts of Inerxia, the duo Santos & Ledes, among other activities.
