Inspired by the recreation of Alice's magical world and with a magnificent wardrobe designed by the designer Manuel Camejo and made by the parents at the School together with the teachers and students, the inaugural staging of the twenty-first edition of the Olympics was carried out, one of the most anticipated events by the Educational Community, in which values such as teamwork, respect, solidarity, friendship and security are transmitted, among many others, which will last until April 8 with different activities that highlight the values and healthy habits that the practice of sport has.
The opening ceremony, which was welcomed by the students in Spanish, English, German and Chinese, languages that are taught at the School, was attended by the General Director of the Arenas School, Arenas Atlántico and Arenas Internacional Alberto Rodríguez, the councilors of the Teguise City Council Francisco Javier Díaz (Education) and Antonio Callero (Costa Teguise), the Director of the Arenas Internacional School Delfina Rodríguez, the Education Inspector Ainhoa Aldunate, the Captain Chief 3rd CIA of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise José Ángel Silvero, the Proclaimer of this edition Luisa Luzardo, the Manager of the Arenas Internacional School Jaime Rodríguez and the Counselor of the Arenas, Arenas Atlántico and Arenas Internacional Schools Bernardo Rodríguez.
The presentation of the event was in charge of the Director of the Center Delfina Rodríguez who stressed that "society and the students of the 21st century demand other knowledge and other skills: mastery of different languages, being good communicators, knowing how to work in a team, having an entrepreneurial spirit, being creative and emotionally balanced to adapt without shocks to the rapid changes they will have to face, attributes of the profile of the international programs of the IB Organization. In this context, our School has assumed that commitment and is working on the implementation of international study programs in Infant, Primary and Secondary, after eight years of successfully teaching the Diploma Program for Baccalaureate to train young people from the World".
At the same time, she stated that "for the achievement of this educational adaptation, human, material and infrastructure resources are very important, for which the School has undertaken and undertakes important works that will mean a qualitative improvement in the teaching-learning conditions of the students, such as the "Aqua Sport & Center" Sports Center pending the latest administrative procedures for its inauguration, or the new courts that will be built attached to the Pavilion (one for volleyball and another for soccer with artificial turf), among others".
Later, the mother of students of the Arenas Internacional School Luisa Luzardo, after making an entertaining tour of the skills and values taught by the School, with which she has had a relationship since the 2002 academic year, through her children, stated that "it is no exaggeration to say that the education of a child is a long and complex road, in which many variables come into play. We have trusted this school and we are more than satisfied with the choice. Therefore, we believe that it is fair to thank all the teachers for their great work. We feel their support, their dedication and their involvement in the education of our children, while allowing us to share our joys for their achievements and successes, and some disappointment for their mistakes"
After her words, the inaugural show began with the parade of the Olympic flag through the sports facilities by the students of 2nd National and International Baccalaureate. During the inaugural gala, you could enjoy a walk through the history of Alice in Wonderland seen through the eyes of a girl whose grandfather tells a recreation of the story of Lewis Carroll adapted to the imagination of his granddaughter. In this way, the chess pieces, the cards, the Queen with her retinue, and many more characters, paraded to transport those present to a world of fantasy guided by the bonds of love and complicity of a grandfather and his granddaughter. The final touch was in charge of the school's batucada that made all the public present participate, integrating them into the performance.
