The Mercedes Medina Díaz Association announces the XI edition of its scholarships

The selection committee will announce the decision of the selected students next Tuesday, August 30, who will receive an amount of 2,700 euros, at a rate of 9 payments of 300 euros per month.

The Mercedes Medina Díaz Association announces the eleventh edition of its Scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year aimed at university students studying at Spanish public universities, leading to obtaining a degree, attending to good academic performance and economic criteria. The presentation ceremony took place at Finca Testeina, in Masdache.

In this edition, 12 scholarships will be announced in general, and all the information is available on the website of the organizing entity https://www.asociacionmercedesmedinadiaz.es/. The deadline is set from July 15 to August 15, both inclusive, to complete the application, and interested parties must accompany it with the required documentation and send it within the established period to the email address asociacionmercedesmedinadiaz@gmail.com

The MMD Scholarships are supported by the Association's own funds, with the altruistic contribution of Mercedes Palarea Medina, honorary president, founder and main patron. In addition to private donations and the invaluable financial support of Business Groups and foundations committed to society such as Taba Control, Bodegas Vega de Yuco, CICAR, Supermercados Marcial, Fundación Líneas Romero, SPL and Fundación Grupo Martínez, to whom the association thanks for their generosity. During this edition, the collaborating entities have consolidated their contribution with the signing of an adhesion protocol, with the aim of "ratifying their commitment to promoting quality education".

The event was opened by Esperanza Sáez Utande, representative of the host entity Bodegas Vega de Yuco, who made its Finca Testeina available, for which a guided tour was carried out. The president of the AMMD, Juan Cruz Sepúlveda, took the floor, thanking those present "for their attendance, to the business groups and foundations for their selfless commitment to sponsoring personal development and growth through training, giving a warm welcome to the MMD family to the new collaborators SPL and Fundación Grupo Martínez".

On behalf of the adhering entities, Ye Cabrera, expressed the "sincere willingness to continue contributing to the educational and cultural advancement of society." "All companies have their hardships, however there should always be room for collaboration," he said.

Mercedes Palarea Medina, founder and honorary president of the AMMD, spoke, thanking each of the entities for their contribution and mainly congratulating the students "who should always be at the center of educational action." The event was closed by the Deputy Minister of Education, Universities and Sports, María Dolores Rodríguez González, fondly recalling her years as a student, referring to the importance of training as "the fruit of the work that begins in early childhood education and lasts a lifetime", she ended by congratulating the present scholarship recipients who have finished their studies.

In this course that ends, two students benefited from the MMD scholarships have graduated, who are Natanael Martínez Morales, in Computer Engineering, from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, former student of the MMD School and criminologist Julia da Silva Marcos, from the Complutense University of Madrid.

The representatives of the Education areas of the City Councils of Tías, San Bartolomé and Yaiza, and the Councilor for Education of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Myriam Barros Grosso, also attended the event.
