The mayor of San Bartolomé expresses her condolences for the death of Carmen Siverio

Carmen Siverio, who was the director of the San Bartolomé Municipal Choir for more than a decade and a musical reference in the islands, passed away this Friday morning in Tenerife. The mayoress of San Bartolomé, María Dolores Corujo, on her behalf, on behalf of the Municipal Corporation, residents and choir members of the municipality, expresses her condolences to family, friends, members of the San Bartolomé Municipal Choir and the family of Canarian music. "Carmen represents those women who dedicated themselves to their passions, in this case music. This daughter of a painter and musician combined musical studies from a young age, dedicating more than three decades to teaching," says Loly Corujo.

She began in music in Puerto de la Cruz, studied at the Conservatory, with teachers such as Santiago Sabina, founder of the first Symphony Orchestra of the Canary Islands. She never abandoned her training and during the vacation periods she took numerous courses in Madrid, Barcelona, Salzburg, Geneva... discovering new musical pedagogical forms. Originally from Los Realejos, resident in Santa Cruz, but closely linked for years to Los Silos, where she created the White Voices Choir, always remembering the achievements made together, and for this reason Los Silos recognized her as an Adopted Daughter in 1984, for her enormous musical work for so many years.

San Bartolomé had the presence of Carmen Siverio for more than a decade, teaching classes to children and young people for several seasons, but her contribution and trajectory with the Municipal Choir was basic and important, which "mourns her loss." Together they took choral music through numerous stages of the regional and national geography, under her direction.

"Carmen Siverio, a musical reference who contributed her grain of sand in this municipality. Our deepest condolences. R.I.P."
