The Maritime Action Ship Relámpago makes a stop in Arrecife

The Maritime Action Vessel (BAM) `Relámpago´, which is currently operating under the Maritime Surveillance and Security Command within the operational structure of the Armed Forces, is scheduled to call at the port of Arrecife de Lanzarote on June 10 after carrying out Maritime Surveillance work in the waters of the Canary archipelago.

During its stay in Arrecife, the 'Relámpago' will hold an open day. The public is welcome to visit the ship at the following times:

Saturday, June 10: From 16:00 to 20:00 hours.

Sunday, June 11: From 10:00 to 13:30 hours and from 15:30 to 20:00 hours.

Monday, June 12: From 10:00 to 13:30 hours and from 15:30 to 20:00 hours.

Tuesday, June 13: From 10:00 to 12:30 hours.

The visit will consist of a tour of different compartments of the ship, where the ship's capabilities and tasks will be explained and some of the equipment used to carry out its missions will be shown.

"Once it puts to sea on the afternoon of June 13, it will continue with the Maritime Surveillance and Security tasks that are carried out every day in the waters of national sovereignty and interest," they point out.

The 'Relámpago', under the command of Lieutenant Commander Francisco García Flores, is the third of the first series of four Maritime Action Vessels. It is conceived as an oceanic patrol boat and has a high level of automation, which allows it to be operated by a reduced crew. The BAMs are multi-purpose vessels of totally Spanish construction capable of participating in rescue tasks, fighting pollution and providing humanitarian aid.
