The Los Dolores festivities kick off in Mancha Blanca

The festivities began this Wednesday, September 1, and will extend until the 15th with a varied program

The Los Dolores festivities kicked off this Wednesday, September 1 in Mancha Blanca with a clay workshop at the Sociocultural Center. The festivities will take place until next Wednesday, September 15, with a "varied program adapted to security measures to confront the coronavirus pandemic."

The program will continue on Monday, September 6, with activities on the court from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Canarian ball, cards, sports...). On Wednesday, September 8, there will be a ping-pong championship, different board games and a keychain workshop during the morning. 

On the afternoon of Thursday, September 9, activities will return to the court with gymkhanas and traditional games. At 6:00 p.m., the Tinajo amusement park will offer an inclusive day for children and young people with autism spectrum disorder.

On Friday, September 10, the opening of the 32nd edition of the Craft Fair will take place from 11:00 a.m., which will remain open during the rest of the days of the diestas. In the afternoon, families will enjoy activities such as bubble soccer and wooden games. At 7:00 p.m., a gofio masterclass will be held at the fairgrounds to reach the first musical act, at 8:30 p.m., at the Mancha Blanca Sociocultural Center and with limited capacity, with the voices of Pedro Manuel Afonso and Luz Mila Valerón, the strings of Silvestre Ramírez and the verses of María Belén Sánchez, Guisela Guedes and Yeray Rodríguez.

On Saturday, September 11, Mancha Blanca will host the simultaneous chess game and in the morning and afternoon the Los Dolores 2021 kite meeting and exhibition will take place in the municipal parking lot with kite flyers of recognized prestige. At 12:00 p.m. at the fairgrounds you can enjoy a workshop for the whole family, under the title of "Learn to color with dyes", and at 6:00 p.m. a empleita workshop.

On the same Saturday, the events with a sporting flavor will begin. At 5:00 p.m. the interpreted family trail "Las Quemadas" will start and at 6:00 p.m. the children's race "Tinajo You Trail Chinijos" will take place, both events requiring prior registration.  At 8:00 p.m., at the fairgrounds, a new musical event with Alexis Lemes and Adrián Niz.

The Los Dolores festivities will continue on Sunday, September 12, with the Agricultural and Craft Market from 09:00 hours. The Craft Fair will offer at 11:30 a.m. the event with the parrandas and the music school, at 5:00 p.m. the traditional pottery workshop and at 8:00 p.m. the play "Credit" with the Le Comi-k Teatro Cultural Association in the Mancha Blanca cultural center. In the morning the Tinajo You Trail will be held in its different modalities, 31, 14 and 7.5 kilometers.

On Monday, September 13, the fairgrounds will continue with its events. At 6:00 p.m. the book "The rosette industry in Lanzarote since 1898" will be presented, the empleita workshop will continue and then will come the moment of magic and illusionism with the Impact Duo of Mago José Angel and Liudmila. The day will close with another gofio masterclass at 8:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, September 14, the music of the parrandas and the music school as well as the traditional pottery workshop will return to the fairgrounds at 6:00 p.m. The humorous note will be provided by Yanely Hernández at 9:00 p.m. at the Mancha Blanca Sociocultural Center (limited capacity).

 

Big Day of Los Dolores 

The Los Dolores Festivities will close on Wednesday, September 15, with the last day of the Craft Fair, which will be full of events until its closing at 10:00 p.m. There will be more music from parrandas and the music school, a family clay modeling workshop, a workshop on obtaining and applying natural dyes and another gofio masterclass.

Both in the morning and in the afternoon, at 09:00, at 10:30, at 17:00 hours and at 19:00 hours, the Eucharists will take place in solemnity of Our Lady of Sorrows. The last of them will be presided over by the Bishop and, afterwards, the Municipal Band of Tinajo "Peñas de San Roque" will delight those present with their music.

The Councilor for Festivities of the City Council of Tinajo, Jonatan Pérez Olivero, invites "residents of Tinajo and visitors to celebrate, safely, the Los Dolores festivities, with varied events for all ages but always safely."

"We have prepared a program for the whole family but always thinking about the safety of everyone. Now it is time to enjoy some festivities that are a little far from what we were used to but our people deserve to be able to honor the Virgen de Los Dolores so enjoy but with security measures and, in cases where necessary, with limited capacity. Long live the Virgen de Los Dolores", said the mayor, Jesús Machín.
