The Local Police of Arrecife, awarded for the work and trajectory of its special units

The Government of the Canary Islands will decorate the USCI and the Animal and Environmental Protection Unit, as well as the chief sub-commissioner of the corps and several agents.

The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands published this Monday an order from the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Sustainability and Security of the Autonomous Government by which the decorations of the Canary Islands Security System for the year 2019 are granted, where it has been resolved to distinguish the special units of the Local Police of Arrecife as well as several agents of the police force in the capital of Lanzarote.

Specifically, as reported by the Arrecife City Council, the order resolves to grant, at the proposal of the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies, the decorations as collective plaques to the Citizen Security and Intervention Unit of the Local Police of Arrecife (USCI) "for its trajectory since 2003" and to the Animal and Environmental Protection Unit of the Local Police of Arrecife (UPAMA) "for its work since its creation in 2015".

In addition, it resolves to award the Medal of Police Merit to the Chief Sub-Commissioner of the Local Police of Arrecife, José Antonio Lasso Tabares "for his professional career during 36 years of Service".

Medals of police merit are also awarded to Officer Miguel A. Hernández González and Local Police Officer D. José Alexis Sosa Guerra "for being pioneers in the Canary Islands in their work in documentoscopy, graphology, the fight against illicit trafficking of vehicles and crimes against industrial and intellectual property".

The Ministry also published this Monday the resolution to grant the decorations of the Canary Islands Security System in the form of congratulations for the year 2019, as well as other official congratulations. The Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands publicly congratulates the local police officers of Arrecife Juan Alejo Rodríguez García and Sergio Díaz Fuentes "for being pioneers in the Canary Islands in their work in documentoscopy, graphology, the fight against illicit trafficking of vehicles and crimes against industrial and intellectual property".

The award ceremony will take place soon on the island of La Gomera, where the members of the Documentoscopy Unit (UDOC), the Citizen Security and Intervention Unit (USCI) and the Animal Protection Unit, as well as the head of the Local Police of Arrecife, José Antonio Lasso, are expected to travel.
