"The Lions' playground has fleas"

"I'm not surprised that there are fleas in the park because it is open all day and animals enter," says the president of the Neighborhood Association, Ismael Montero, adding that he has also seen some young people urinating in the facilities. On the other hand, some neighbors say they have witnessed the consumption and sale of drugs in said park, so they complain about the noise they make with motorcycles and the state in which they leave the children's facilities.

From the association they assure that they have sent "multiple writings" to the City Council but that to date they have not received any response. For this reason, they say they are "tired of unfulfilled promises" and accuse the City Council of the "abandonment in which the city of Arrecife finds itself."

The Neighborhood Association has been demanding for years that said park be completely renovated and adjusted to the new safety and health regulations.

At the same time, the Neighborhood Association denounces the poor condition of the park located on El Rafael street, which has broken swings. They also express their discomfort because the park does not have a separation between the play area and vehicle traffic. For this reason, the association requests that protective fences be placed at the entrances and exits of the parks. In addition, they denounce that the area does not have trash cans.

Montero asks the City Council to put "a brigade with exclusive use dedicated to the maintenance of children's parks, in addition to severely sanctioning the vandals who are dedicated to destroying and making graffiti".
