The Cabildo will invest nearly 21,000 euros in Safety and Road Education

The Road Safety and Education Service of the Lanzarote Island Council, which reports to the Department of Youth, Sports and Road Safety, coordinated by Luis Arráez, has acquired, between the months of January and May of this year, material valued at 20,952.93 euros.

The Department of Youth reports that 4,584.20 euros have been invested in the purchase of 30 bicycle parking racks. The racks have been placed in Lanzarote's secondary schools, as well as in various locations on the island, and their objective, according to this body, is to "promote the use of bicycles as an urban means of transport". Similarly, 30 parking traffic signs have been acquired for the bicycle racks for an amount of 4,000.91 euros, according to the department.

Greater dynamism

On the other hand, in order to "carry out practical activities and workshops with greater dynamism in schools, neighborhoods and municipalities", the department has proceeded to purchase, for an amount of 6,944.76 euros, a mobile road practice circuit, which contains different elements such as traffic lights, horizontal and vertical signs, etc.

Finally, the institution reports that the road safety training circuit located in the Road Safety and Education Service premises has been restructured and improved, providing it with the necessary road elements "to simulate a public space as realistically as possible". The cost of this action, according to the institution, amounts to 5,423.06 euros.
