To show African society through a selection of instrumental pieces from different eras. This is the reason for "Africa. The Action of the Senses", an exhibition that was presented on Friday morning at the Convent of Santo Domingo. It represents a new way of approaching African culture, which is so important when it comes to understanding the multiple and unequal aspects that affect our own ways of interpreting the present.
"Forms, colors and sounds" is the subtitle of this collection. A subtitle that aims to focus the exhibition beyond the sound functionality of the instruments, but also paying attention to their aesthetic value.
The organizers of the exhibition also wanted to end the "apocalyptic" vision that is held of the African continent. To do this, they show works of art that tell the history and culture of each society.
