The Puerto del Carmen Institute will teach Baccalaureate starting in September. Students will not have to travel to other places on the island to complete their studies, once they have completed 4th year of ESO. This Institute was, until now, the only one in Lanzarote where the two years of Baccalaureate were not taught.
The Tías City Council requested the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands to teach this last school cycle in Puerto del Carmen, with the unanimous agreement of all the political forces of the Corporation, thus adhering to the request of the management, the Ampa, the faculty and the School Council.
The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, and the Councilor for Education, Aroa Pérez, have confirmed that the Ministry of Education has accepted this municipal request. In this sense, he has guaranteed that as of September, the more than 250 students who are currently studying ESO in Puerto del Carmen, can complete the stage of secondary education in this center without having to go to other places on the Island.
Opening of registrations
The management of the Puerto del Carmen Institute has already opened the new registration period for this cycle of education, which will be taught for the first time in the 2014-2015 academic year. The two modalities that will be offered are the Baccalaureate of Science and Technology and Humanities and Social Sciences.
