The Lanzarote Security, Emergency, Rescue, Prevention and Fire Extinction Consortium reports that the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has declared a situation of alert for strong winds in Lanzarote starting at 10:00 p.m. this Saturday, February 22, and until further notice.

According to AEMET forecasts, wind gusts of up to 70 km/h may increase in intensity up to 80 km/h, mainly affecting the western half and southern tip of Lanzarote and the island of La Graciosa.

In addition, since 12:00 p.m. this Saturday, an alert for suspended dust has also been declared. According to weather forecasts, the haze episode will worsen during this afternoon with a probable reduction in visibility below 1,500 meters.
