A total of 600 people attended the performances of the Guacimeta Summer Festival in Playa Honda, which was held on June 4 and 5, organized by Natura Electric Party, in collaboration with the San Bartolomé City Council through the Playa Honda and Festivities Councils, not counting the numerous performances held outside the bounded facilities that had successful participation and public that gathered in the areas surrounding the concerts.
The attending public thanked the organization for holding a mixed event, with the dj's and mc's providing a lot of play and spectacle, as a private concert, rather than a festival. The organization fulfilled all the events with the exception of the foam party and the live painting show, which could not be held due to reasons beyond the festival's control.
Parallel activities
The success of the festival also resided in the free activities attended by a large audience, highlighting the Aquathlon, in which more than 100 people participated, with "a high level and quality of the event" organized by the Guacimeta Summer Festival and Fuerte Gym, hoping next year to have clubs that have offered to support the sports activity. The first three places went to Fernando Toribio, Miguel Ángel Duque Toribio, and Alexis Perdomo, all of them from the Tridente Tinajo Club.
The Kite-surf, organized by the Kite-surf Lanzarote association, was also a great success of the Guacimeta Summer, as it was the first time in the Canary Islands that an event of this type has been held in which it is intended to unite Playa Honda, Puerto Calero, and Corralejo. The participation was very high and a fantastic show was given in Guacimeta for the public that gathered to enjoy the activity. The event organization has expressed its gratitude to Puerto Calero, which provided its boats as support, and to the San Bartolomé City Council, for its collaboration.
The little ones could also enjoy inflatables and workshops. All residents and visitors who wanted to come to Playa Honda could go to the two areas where booths were installed for the performances, both in the Princesa Ico area and in Guacimeta.
In this way, for two days, Playa Honda enjoyed music, sports, leisure, and varied activities for all audiences, basically highlighting the involvement of young people in the activities.
A reference of the municipality
The organization, in collaboration with the City Council, intends to consolidate this activity as a reference of the municipality of San Bartolomé and the island and "improve it and make it grow every year".
Daniel Bartolomé, on behalf of the organization, has thanked for the participation and collaborations provided, and has commented that they will begin "to work on the project of the next festival, looking for sponsorships and aid, to make the Guacimeta Summer grow every year, improve it, and make it an alternative of leisure and music during a weekend and an island reference of promotion for the musical and sports groups of the island".
For his part, Manuel Rodríguez, councilor of Playa Honda, has congratulated the organization, the participating groups, and has encouraged them to continue with this project "that we will try to consolidate in Guacimeta and make it a musical reference".
Finally, Áurea Mauri, councilor of Festivities, has thanked the participation of the groups in the event, as well as Natura Electric Party "for the effort made and the organization of it", and has encouraged to "continue forward in projects that involve the groups, the young people and support the music and sports exhibitions that are shown in this type of festivals".
