The fight to be the best wine in the Canary Islands is being waged at the Los Fariones hotel

29 red wines, 23 white wines and seven sweet wines are competing for their prestige and quality seal in the regional wine competition Agrocanarias 2006, which between the afternoon of Wednesday, June 28 and Thursday, June 29, is held at the Los Fariones hotel. The wines must pass through the palate of the jury members, who will make a blind tasting of the wines, so that the tasters cannot identify which wine they are tasting until they have already given it a valuation. The Agrocanarias competition has been held for 6 years and represents the recognition and improvement of the quality of the wines of the islands, as well as an incentive for their dissemination.

On the afternoon of Thursday the final decision will be announced during the presentation of the III Wine Conference of the Canary Islands, which will be attended by the Minister of Agriculture of the Canary Islands, Pedro Rodríguez Zaragoza. Under the name "New technologies in winemaking", these conferences will bring together more than fifty experts in the field until next Saturday.
