The Feminist Platform March 8, created in Lanzarote less than a year ago, has called a parallel concentration to the one organized by Mararía for January 15. The reason for both concentrations is the same and is in the negotiations to form a government in Andalusia, since they consider that the demands of Vox threaten the rights of women. However, although both have been called at 7:00 p.m. in Arrecife, the place of the appointment is different.
The first has been called by Mararía in the Old Cabildo, which is the stage where she usually carries out her protests for more than two decades, both to denounce cases of gender violence and to defend the rights of women. Shortly after Mararía made her announcement public, the Feminist Platform sent her own statement announcing another concentration at the same time and a few meters away, specifically in La Plazuela de Arrecife.
In the case of the Platform, she points out that the reason is to demonstrate "against the machist and misogynistic policies of the parties that use women as a trick, as merchandise." "Together we are stronger. Therefore, we join our colleagues from Andalusia and the rest of the Spanish State and announce constant, permanent and insistent mobilizations to protest against the political parties that want to trade with the rights of women," they say in their statement.
However, although they advocate acting "together", the truth is that they announce a second concentration parallel to that of Mararía. For her part, from the veteran feminist association, Nieves Rosa Hernández hopes that finally only one concentration will be held or that they will end up joining during the act "at the violet point" of the capital, and defends the need to act with unity on this issue.
