El Patio Agricultural Museum closes the "Project for the dissemination of traditional agricultural work"

Last Friday, the 'El Patio' Agricultural Museum (Tiagua) closed the Project for the Dissemination of Traditional Agricultural Works of the current academic year 2009-2010. The official closing took place after the last guided school visit concluded. A representation of various educational centers involved in the project attended the closing ceremony.

The project is an initiative of the Order of the Canarian Puppy in Lanzarote, which began in the 2006-2007 academic year, developing until now uninterruptedly and receiving a great reception from the educational centers of the island, it will restart with the beginning of the next school year.

This initiative arose from the conviction that it is necessary to respond to the gradual disappearance of traditional agricultural culture, the result of the rapid and intense economic and social changes that have been registered on the island in recent decades. The objective of the project is to contribute to spreading knowledge of traditional agricultural works among the school population of the island between the ages of 11 and 13, included in the 1st year of ESO.

In this way, the project includes guided visits to the 'El Patio' Agricultural Museum of three and a half hours duration, a multimedia exhibition with the contents of the visit and a didactic guide, for students and teachers, with the content of this extracurricular activity.

The 'Project for the Dissemination of Traditional Agricultural Works' is an initiative of the Order of the Canarian Puppy in Lanzarote, in close cooperation with the Areas of Education and Culture and Agriculture and Fisheries of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
