The Drag gala, the Buenos Aires Carnival and the Carnival Tapas, highlights of the Carnival of Fear

Arrecife will experience two weeks of intense activity. The Carnivals return to the capital of the Island in its most terrifying version. The celebration will begin on Friday, January 29 with the reading of the proclamation that, as the mayor of Arrecife, José Montelongo, announced, will be given by a renowned carnival-goer, Alfonso Duro Cabezón. The festivities will culminate with the Burial of the Sardine on Wednesday, February 10.

The program was presented this Monday morning in the Municipal Archive by the mayor, who was accompanied by the head of the Festivities Area, Zebensui Rodríguez, and the deputy mayors, Rafael Juan González and Isabel Mesa.

The program, which will be distributed at different points in the capital and posted on the municipality's website, has been translated into English and German so that tourists visiting Arrecife during those days are aware of all the activities programmed by the capital's City Council.

Once again, the carnival will feature the most transgressive gala. The Drags will take over, with their imposing platforms, the stage of the Arrecife Fairgrounds on the night of Saturday, January 30. The activity will be presented by the comedian Javicombé and will feature the musical performance of the group DBK dKuba. The Children's Murgas contest will be on Sunday, January 31. Seven groups will participate.

The twenty-eighth adult Murgas contest will begin on Monday, February 1, and the final of the contest will be on Friday, February 5. The Murgas contest includes musical performances by Juan Dávila, with his "Tribute to Queen" on Wednesday, February 3, and El Vega, on Friday the 5th.

For this particular activity, an open-air stage will be set up next to the Fairgrounds. All events will be free and open to the public.

On Saturday, February 6, the Carnaval Porteño will take place with performances by ABBA "The gold experience", Treintaytantos, Rikabanda and Dj Ángel Pérez. All this in the vicinity of the Islas Canarias park. That same day, the Tapa del Carnaval will take place on the Las Bolas Bridge.

Monday, February 8 will be the grand parade of floats, comparsas, murgas, batucadas and masquerades. The route will be on the Medular road of Arrecife.

Masked Balls

The traditional Masked Balls will take place on the 5th, 6th, 8th and 10th of February on the stages located in El Almacén and in the Islas Canarias Park. There will be musical performances from 23:00 hours, except on the 10th, which will start at 21:30 hours.
