The Civil Guard celebrated this Thursday the day of its patron saint, the Virgen del Pilar, at the Costa Teguise barracks, with an act in which decorations were awarded to six agents and a businessman. The civil guards also showed solidarity with the colleagues who provide their services in Catalonia.
The chief commander of the body in Lanzarote, José Ángel Silvero, who is changing his destination after two years on the island, took advantage of his intervention to say goodbye, thanking the institutions and citizens for their support. For his part, the island director of the General State Administration, Juan Prats, congratulated the Benemérita on its day and recognized the work of the chief commander of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote, to whom he thanked for his work and professionalism and wished him the best in his new destination.
The senator for Lanzarote, Joel Delgado, the mayor of Arrecife, Eva de Anta, the councilor of Ciudadanos in the Cabildo, Benjamín Perdomo, the mayor of Haría and regional parliamentarian Marci Acuña, and the councilor of Vías y Obras of Teguise, Eugenio Robayna, were some of the authorities who attended the event.
Decorations
The ceremony began with the imposition of decorations to six members of the body and a businessman. Those decorated with the Cross with White Decoration of the Order of Military Merit are Sergeant José Carlos Parajes Pazos, from the main post of San Bartolomé; First Corporal Heliodoro Fernández Magraner, belonging to the Timanfaya Nature Protection Department; and Civil Guard César Miguel Ventura Florido, from the main post of Costa Teguise.
Likewise, those distinguished with the Cross with White Decoration of the Order of Merit of the Civil Guard are Sergeant David Calvo Ortega, assigned to the main post of Costa Teguise; First Corporal Marcos Nicolás Suárez González, from the main post of Tías; and Civil Guard Javier Jimena de Armas, belonging to the main post of Costa Teguise. That same distinction was received by businessman Ángel Herrera Rodríguez.
The celebration also included the tribute to those who have given their lives for Spain, which materialized with the placement of a laurel wreath next to the monolith existing in the barracks. The archpriest of Lanzarote and parish priest of Yaiza, Sixto Álvarez officiated the response.
