The Catalan tourist who tested positive for covid this Wednesday in La Graciosa is "asymptomatic", according to the Lanzarote Health Management. "She was tested because she was in contact with a declared positive in the Peninsula. The tracking and coordination system between Communities has worked by giving the notice and finding the person who has been tested," they declared from the Ministry of Health.
As she presents no symptoms, the woman remains in isolation in an apartment on the Eighth Island. In addition, the tracking of her closest contacts has begun to carry out the tests. For the moment, it has already been confirmed by Public Health that a sample will be taken from the friend with whom she is on the island.
This is the first case of coronavirus registered in La Graciosa. The mayor of Teguise and parliamentarian, Oswaldo Betancort, declared that "unfortunately, something is confirmed that we have shown to Puertos Canarios and the Regional Government on repeated occasions since the beginning of this pandemic. And that is that for the island of La Graciosa to remain free of covid-19, championing a favorable situation in the face of zero contagion, it was necessary to control entry with tests, as in the airports of all the Canary Islands."
