The little Infanta Leonor, who is these days in Lanzarote with her parents, will leave the Island of the Volcanoes with the gifts that the Island Council and the City Council of Teguise, municipality where the royal residence of La Mareta is located, have given her.
The First Island Institution presented this Thursday a painting by Pedro Tayó entitled "Small garden for a child's house" to Doña Leticia and Don Felipe. It is an oil painting, the work of the Lanzarote artist, made between 2000 and 2005.
"The joy and innocence of childhood are present in this work of art full of color," said the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Inés Rojas. "I hope and wish that the work of this brilliant Lanzarote artist is to the liking of Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Asturias and that at least a small piece of our Island adorns the bedroom of the Infanta Doña Leonor," she added.
For its part, the City Council of Teguise has given the future queen of Spain a balayo with some pieces of bedding, as well as a set of typical clothes from La Graciosa. In addition, Leonor was also presented with a pendant with the image of the Virgin Child. A councilor of the Teguise Corporation traveled to La Mareta to deliver the gifts to the Prince and Princess of Asturias.
On the other hand, the editorial staff of LA VOZ learned that at noon this Thursday the Prince and Princess of Asturias visited the Mirador del Río. It was expected that they would drop by the Timanfaya Park and Los Jameos del Agua, but apparently Doña Leticia and Don Felipe have preferred to spend the day in a more private environment, away from the cameras that were waiting for them in La Geria.
Wine gift
On the other hand, the winemakers of the wines with Designation of Origin of Lanzarote have also sent, this Thursday, a sample of the wine delicacies of the Island to the Prince and Princess of Asturias.
The present has been delivered by the president of the Regulatory Council, Miguel Martín Betancort, who has delivered it to the rest residence of La Mareta, where they are now.
A dozen wines representative of the best of this harvest are the sample with which the conejeros producers wish that their highnesses can toast in these dates and for a prosperous year 2006.
In the spirit of making known to personalities and media the result of this year's harvest, the Regulatory Council has sent a batch of wines to more than a hundred personalities and public and private representatives, along with media.
In this way, and taking advantage of the Christmas season, the producers through their Regulatory Council, express their gratitude for the support they receive from the consumers of the Island.
