"Sustainable development for a better world" is the title with which Arenas Internacional School will celebrate its XXVI Olympics until June 16. A nod to the 17 international objectives agreed in 2015 by world leaders to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and guarantee peace and prosperity for all; and that at Arenas Internacional School they work in all educational stages to contribute to creating a better world.

This Saturday, June 4, its inauguration took place, with the presence of families. The students, from Infant to Primary, dressed in a wonderful wardrobe made by teachers and parents, under the coordination of the designer Manuel Camejo, have once again offered a great show to those present. And once again it has been possible thanks to the collaborative work of teaching and non-teaching staff, led by the Physical Education Department; managers, students and families.

The event was chaired by the General Director of Arenas School, Arenas Atlántico and Arenas Internacional, Alberto Rodríguez. Next to him, the Vice President of the Cabildo de Lanzarote Marcos Bergaz Villalba; the Mayor of Teguise Oswaldo Betancort and his Councilor for Education Francisco Javier Díaz. The presidential table was also occupied by the Director of Arenas Internacional School, Delfina Rodríguez; the Managing Director Jaime Rodríguez; the Deputy Director of the Center José Paz and the town crier and mother of students Cristina León Quintana.

The opening was in charge of Delfina Rodríguez who thanked for being able to return to "normality" and share this show with those present; She took a tour of the main milestones of the School during the last year, such as successfully passing the renewal visit of the International Baccalaureate Continuum; and he announced some of the new projects for the next course, such as the launch of the STEM Classroom.

Next, the town crier offered an emotional speech in which she described the values of the School and what it had contributed to them, through the eyes and experiences of her children. Some very close words that ended with a beautiful poem created by her husband for this occasion. Later, she gave way to the anxiously awaited show.

Through gymnastics, dance, dramatization and choreographies in which all the students of the Center participate, from Infant age 1 to Baccalaureate, you could enjoy a show in which the School as an Ecocenter and the only one in Lanzarote with Environmental Management Certificate, once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental education in which small actions are carried out that contribute to making the 17 global actions agreed by the UN in 2015 to achieve a better world a reality.

At the end of the performance, the students carrying the Olympic Torch entered, and the subsequent lighting of the cauldron, whose honor fell this year to the 2nd year ESO student, Alexia Reyes Lomas.
