The Teguise Easter Ranch once again filled the Midnight Mass with emotion

As every year, Teguise experienced Christmas in a magical and reflective atmosphere, the ritual of the living nativity scene, the shepherds and angels, and the Rancho de Pascua in the Misa del Gallo marked a night full of emotion and joy.

The Church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe gathered numerous parishioners and visitors last Christmas Eve to celebrate the Misa del Gallo. The songs of the historic Rancho de Pascua de La Villa announced the birth of Jesus, the shepherds danced and kissed the feet around the church in a tour that took them to the Plaza de los Leones. They were accompanied by the Virgin, the Child, Saint Joseph, the angels and the shepherds of the Rancho Chico who came down from the altar to join everyone in the celebration of the Nativity of the Lord.

The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, who closely followed the representation, expressed his pride "for how traditions and our cultural heritage are maintained and preserved generation after generation", while pointing out "the enthusiasm and determination with which cultural associations such as Rancho De Pascua work to strengthen these traditions and maintain our identity".

It should be remembered that the Rancho de Pascua de Teguise, the oldest in the Canary Islands, and the Ranchos de Ánimas de Canarias, received the Gold Medal from the Government of the Canary Islands in recognition of the oldest musical religious tradition of the Archipelago.
