The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, accompanied by the head of the Equality area, Isidro Alonso, closed this Thursday the first edition of an original campaign that is part of the project "Teguise+Diversa", designed in collaboration with the LGTBI+ Lánzate Association, with Nahum Cabrera at the head as president.
Through the Teguise Live program, held from June 26 to July 10 in various parts of the municipality, society was invited to participate in various events aimed at promoting equality and tolerance, in order to make the LGTBI community visible and eliminate the sociocultural prejudices that hinder their personal and/or professional development.
“We hope to have contributed to ensuring that diversity by sexual orientation or gender receives the necessary attention from institutions and also in the streets to achieve true equality,” said Oswaldo Betancort during the award ceremony, which has been an incentive for participation.
The winners of the contests proposed in this first edition of Teguise Live have been: Gabriel Torres and José Agraso, from “Las Brasas Flamenco Bar”, with the Award for the Best Valued Tapa; and the restaurant “Aquí y Ahora” (by Evelyn Viña), with the Award for Originality (Proud Tapa Contest); the winner of the People of Colors contest was Alejandro Peñate, with a cash prize, along with the winners of the Networks and Tapas draw, Araceli Curbelo and Juan Antonio Andreu.
“Congratulations to all of them for their involvement and for the award and thank you to all those who have received and welcomed a project designed to build a better, healthier and more egalitarian society,” concluded Betancort.
