Tatiana and her 8-year-old son will sleep in their home in Nazareth tonight. The eviction they feared, and expected to occur at 12:30 p.m. this Friday, has not happened. According to the Platform of People Affected by Mortgages, whose members have come to the house to try to stop it, La Caixa has contacted Tatiana and informed her that they did not plan to carry out the eviction.
Several members of the PAH have been in front of the door of the home since 11:30 a.m. this Friday, brandishing signs against the eviction. As they explained to La Voz, it was approximately at that time when Tatiana received a phone call from the bank assuring her that she was not going to be evicted.
Both the affected party and the members of the Platform, however, have received this news with some skepticism. "That today, after the entire process, La Caixa tells her that they are not going to evict her, it is normal for Tatiana not to believe it until they present her with a document," they explained from the PAH. And they emphasize that, for the moment, all Tatiana has is the "execution order from the Court," despite the fact that it has not finally been carried out. Now, she hopes that the bank will convey this information to her in writing, so that she can really believe that her son and she will be able to keep their home.
