Tara, an Egyptian dog queen with slaves, won the 5th Teguise pet contest

La Villa de Teguise tent was the setting this Sunday for the V Pet Contest, which kicked off the municipal carnivals. The winner was a Yorkshire dog, Tara, who with her costume of "Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile", accompanied by two slaves, was the protagonist of an immense float with feathers, statues and even part of a temple.

In second place was a French bulldog, Niuka, a "Lion King" who brought in the float the vegetation and fauna of his land, flowers, butterflies and palm trees. It was carried by Paola García. The third prize went to an elegant and graceful chihuahua, Maya, who was dressed as a "Peacock" and carried a colorful feather tail.

The rest of the participants, eleven in total, showed that the imagination is overflowing and walked on four legs: a very sexy drag queen; an angel accompanied by his demon; magical elves; and even a sea troupe formed by three dogs with scales, a fourth striped dog, two turtles dressed as hedgehogs and a starfish. This underwater world was carried by their owners with two immense jellyfish and an octopus.

The animal shelter Sara also participated with "Dumas and the three musketeers", to encourage the attending public to adopt some of the more than one hundred dogs that they currently have in the NGO's facilities.

The jury formed by three members, Jaime Puig, Ruth Corujo and Raquel Aparicio, was in charge of distributing the three prizes, which consisted of a voucher worth 140 euros, for the first winner; the second, a voucher of 90 euros; and the third, of 60 euros. They will have to be spent on products for the pet.

The gala also featured the collaboration of the El Norte Dance Group, which entertained the public while the jury deliberated.
