SentirTEA is born, the first association of family members of people with ASD (autism spectrum disorders) created on the island of Lanzarote. "We are born with a firm and clear vocation: to work for the real social inclusion of our community through visibility, awareness of society, promoting solidarity, the participation of families, equal opportunities and support in all stages and areas of life," they say from the association.

"The mission of our non-profit association is to offer our work, support and services to improve the quality of life of people with ASD, or people with suspected diagnosis, as well as their families, responding in any area or stage and with the ultimate goal of real inclusion," explain from SentirTEA.

Therefore, from SentirTEA they point out that they will support and guide people with ASD and their families, "especially those who are in conditions of social exclusion, as well as in the early years of diagnosis, trying to reduce uncertainty for families; we will contribute to the dissemination of information about ASD and neurodiversity to achieve more visibility; we will promote initiatives aimed at promoting the personal autonomy of people with ASD, always with respect for their condition."

Social, health and educational rights

"But above all, we will tirelessly defend the dignity and rights of the people of our community and their families before the administrations and other organizations, demanding the revision, changes, and approval of legislation on people with ASD and the unavoidable improvement of their social, health and educational conditions, rights and resources. To that end, we will work to make available to the members the greatest personalized attention with the resources we have at each moment, with the main objective of quality advice, inclusive activities, projects and training, but above all to generate spaces for dialogue and support between families and families with ASD, where we can share and address different experiences and face together the challenges faced by our community," say from SentirTEA.

From the association they encourage the society of Lanzarote to "learn more about ASD and the families who live this reality to associate and share and join efforts."
