The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts that this weekend will bring the second heat wave of the summer to Lanzarote with temperatures that will reach 40 degrees in some parts of the island, especially on Sunday. The island is waiting for the State Meteorological Agency to activate the relevant warnings in the face of this extreme heat situation.

Since this Wednesday, the island has noticed how temperatures have started to rise slightly. In fact, this day will already reach a maximum of 30 degrees, as will this Thursday.

As for Friday, the values will continue to increase until reaching 32 degrees maximum, especially in the southern and southeastern half of the island, and between 19 and 23 degrees minimum. In addition, there will be light haze at altitude and the skies will be partly cloudy or clear. Also, the trade wind will blow with strong intervals on the northwest and southeast slopes, where very strong occasional gusts are not ruled out in the early morning and during the afternoon.

The weekend will begin with a Saturday of very high temperatures, with maximums that will skyrocket to 38 degrees and the minimums will be between 21 and 24. In the north of Lanzarote they will be milder, with values of up to 31 degrees. The skies will remain partly cloudy or clear and the light haze at altitude will continue to make an appearance. The wind will blow with strong intervals on the northwest and southeast coasts.

On Sunday you will have to be especially careful about exposing yourself to the sun in the central hours of the day because the maximum temperatures will be 40 degrees in most of the island, except in the north where they will be 35. The minimums will be between 21 and 24 degrees. As for the skies, they will be clear.

This extreme situation has led Aemet to activate the yellow warning for high temperatures in Gran Canaria since this Tuesday and, since this Wednesday, in La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife. In addition, the warning is orange since this Wednesday in Gran Canaria.
