The first edition of the Land Promotion Conference for Protected Housing in San Bartolomé, which will take place next Saturday, October 11 (10:00 a.m., Bodeguita de la Casa Cerdeña), was presented at a press conference by the mayor Marcial Martín, the first deputy mayor Concepción Álvarez and the Councilor for Housing of the San Bartolomé City Council, José Antonio González.
All those interested in attending the event can register before October 9 at the Housing Department, located in the municipal theater of the town, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The mayor Marcial Martín highlighted the importance of holding these conferences, "which will be enlightening in the area of protected housing and in which not only the entire island population is invited, but also the construction guilds and those people who own land, so that they know the different formulas that may be viable to execute protected housing". Explaining and knowing the legal instruments for obtaining land and its framework of application is one of the main objectives of the conference, which will be attended by the Minister of Social Welfare and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Inés Rojas, and the President of the Island Council, Manuela de Armas.
José Antonio González, councilor for housing of the San Bartolomé City Council, was in charge of providing detailed information about the Conference, but not before commenting that the issue of the activation and promotion of the housing office is one of the important objectives of the San Bartolomé City Council, as well as having a clear vision in terms of housing by the Government Team, an active office, since in the last decade in San Bartolomé absolutely nothing was done in terms of housing promotion, so this Government Team intends to boost the office, and that San Bartolomé has a real, tangible housing policy for the residents.
Some of the topics that will be addressed in the conferences will be the legal instruments for obtaining land for the construction of protected housing, urban integration and sustainability, land management and the analysis of housing costs. "In this important moment of crisis, we believe that public authorities must take measures to reactivate the economy and this may be one of those measures, the creation of high quality and sustainable protected housing. The presence of SEPES, with its extensive experience in land management, can provide an important vision for owners and entrepreneurs who have land. What is intended is to find formulas of understanding between the parties to promote protected housing".
José Antonio González thanked the Minister of Housing, Inés Rojas, for her willingness, highlighting that said Ministry has a fund of 2,000,000 euros to acquire land for the construction of protected housing on the island of Lanzarote.
These conferences are supported by the Housing Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Association of Construction Entrepreneurs of Lanzarote.
