The La Recova gastronomic contest has had the participation of ten aspirants dedicated to preparing Canarian dishes. The objective of the contest was to be able to be awarded one of the five stalls with a terrace that will be installed on the Avenida Marítima de Arrecife from August 9 to 25 during the San Ginés festivities.

Ribs with pineapple, ropa vieja, tollos with mojo, Canarian ranch, carne fiesta, rabbit in sauce, Canarian black pig, goat trout, coastal noodles with limpets, wrinkled potatoes with mojo, millo pie with veal... These delicacies of Canarian gastronomy were some of the dishes that could be tasted this Saturday in the gastronomic contest organized by the Department of Festivities of the Arrecife City Council.

Dishes that, of course, can also be tasted during the celebration of the patron saint festivities of the capital of Lanzarote, from August 9 to 25, and that were qualified by "a jury of expert restaurateurs" as Echedey Eugenio highlighted when highlighting who has had the last word when awarding the stalls. The dishes were tasted by both the jury and the numerous public attending.

A jury composed of chefs of the prestige of Orlando Ortega (Lilium Restaurant), Antonio Luna (Luna Restaurant) and the chef of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers (CACT), Gladys Isabel Janeta, in addition to the worker of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Rita Martín, who acted as secretary, who decided that Francisco Javier Martín, Servando Pérez, Lorenzo Pérez, Oswaldo Rodríguez and Cirila Matos were the five awardees who will have the right to set up the five traditional stalls with a terrace during the patron saint festivities.

The deputy mayor and councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, highlights that it has been "a jury of expert restaurateurs that has resolved the awarding of the stalls through a contest with which we wanted to promote and preserve one of the main distinctive elements of the Canarian identity such as its excellent gastronomy".
