The Guardamar Polimnia rescued on Monday afternoon 46 people of sub-Saharan origin spotted by a freighter aboard a pneumatic boat about 80 kilometers east of Lanzarote.
As reported to Efe by a Maritime Rescue spokesman, these are 37 men and nine women, all of sub-Saharan origin, who have already headed aboard the Polimnia to the Commercial dock of Arrecife, where they arrived at about 8:45 p.m.
This is the fourth rescue carried out so far on Monday in the rescue zone under Spanish responsibility in the Canary Islands area, with a balance of 213 people rescued and two missing.
The previous three were carried out by the Salvamar Mízar from Fuerteventura (46 men and six women), the Guardamar Calíope from Gran Canaria (26 men, 27 women and nine minors) and the merchant ship Sen Arche (with 53 rescued and two missing).
