Rescue rescues 41 occupants of the boat they were looking for, the sixth to arrive in Lanzarote

The Guardamar Concepción Arenal rescued this Sunday north of Órzola, Lanzarote, the 39 men and two Maghrebi women from a boat they were looking for and is heading to the Arrecife dock with the other 47 sub-Saharans who had already been rescued from another, so six boats have arrived on the island in the last few hours.

Maritime Rescue, with this latest operation, has rescued a total of 233 people in the early hours of this Sunday who were sailing on board five boats towards the Canary Islands, although another boat has arrived on its own to Lanzarote with 46 immigrants.

According to sources from Maritime Rescue and the Lanzarote Island Council's Emergency Consortium, the rescues have taken place since midnight by the Salvamar Al Nair and Concepción Arenal vessels.

After midnight, at 00:33 (Canarian time), the first inflatable boat was intercepted via satellite phone, with 45 occupants, all men whose origin has not been specified, who were rescued by the Salvamar Al Nair in international waters, 88 kilometers east of Arrecife.

The Salvamar Al Nair with the immigrants on board headed to the Arrecife dock, where they were disembarked, and, subsequently, rescued another 54 sub-Saharans, 48 men, three women and three children, who were also disembarked at the Arrecife dock, Maritime Rescue sources have indicated.

The third boat, also inflatable, was intercepted at 02:23 hours (Canarian time) and on it were traveling 46 men, 43 men and three women of sub-Saharan origin, who were assisted by the Guardamar Concepción Arenal, in international waters, 37 kilometers east of Arrecife.

Once the rescue was completed, the Guardamar Concepción Arenal went to the aid of a fourth boat located 60 kilometers from Lanzarote with 47 sub-Saharan immigrants, 42 men, three women and two children, which was also detected by the positioning of a satellite phone.

After this fourth operation, the Guardamar Concepción Arenal with the immigrants on board went to check the existence of another possible boat that has finally located north of Orzola, a group of 41 Maghrebi people.

In addition, this morning, at 04:21 hours (Canarian time), another 46 Maghrebi people have arrived in Lanzarote in a fifth boat that arrived on its own to the northeast of the island and all of them in apparent good health.

This boat was detected by the Fiscal and Border Patrol of the Civil Guard, according to sources from the Emergency Consortium.
