Charlie Chaplin Dies

The City Council of Tías wishes to express its condolences to family and friends of Charlie Chapman, an Irish businessman based in the municipality for more than 30 years and promoter of Puerto del Carmen as the best tourist destination for the Irish.

Champan was the owner of the historic Charlies Bar Lanzarote, with concerts and live performances by numerous bands, and one of the ambassadors of Puerto del Carmen among Irish visitors. He promoted solidarity concerts for various collective causes and was the driving force behind the first parade to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the first tourist town of Lanzarote.

Charlie Chapman, 66, died suddenly last weekend while in Manchester, UK. The Tías City Council highlights Chapman's legendary and charismatic role and recalls his sympathy and passion for music.
