Podemos Lanzarote wanted to make public "its regret and condolences" for the loss of its colleague José Antonio González, who died this Tuesday at the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife at the age of 59, due to an illness.
"We are losing a fundamental reference of the left in Lanzarote, a voice for many years in the fight against injustice and a firm defender of democracy," says the party's general secretary on the island, Carlos Meca.
"In his name and in the name of all his party colleagues, especially the Cabildo group with whom José Antonio collaborated in this legislature, Meca wants to convey his deepest condolences to his wife, his children and the rest of his family, as well as highlight the career of a politician who never stopped fighting for what he believed was right and for a better island," the party said in a statement.
"His contribution has been decisive for the work that Podemos has developed in these four years on the island and his example and his commitment are a legacy that we who have had the immense fortune to work by his side take with us," adds Carlos Meca.
