The Tías City Council has announced the poster and the allegory of the upcoming carnivals of Puerto del Carmen, which will be held from February 11 to 14. 'Tropical Passion' has been the allegory chosen for these upcoming festivities, which will feature a varied program of events. As every year, these events will take place in the Plaza del Varadero in La Tiñosa and on the Avenida de Las Playas in Puerto del Carmen, where the grand carnival parade will be held.

The grand Carnival gala will take place on Friday, February 12, with performances by the "Sur Caliente Junior" and "Sur Caliente Adulta" dance troupes, the "Los Gruñones" brass band, and the "Chimbay" percussion group in El Varadero.

In addition to the open-air dances and the performance of the satirical song groups, the grand carnival parade along the Avenue also stands out, which will be held on Saturday, February 13, and in which numerous floats, dance troupes, satirical song groups, as well as thousands of masked revelers, will participate, bringing color, joy, and passion to the main commercial and leisure artery of the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen.

Finally, on Sunday, February 14, the Plaza del Varadero will host a new edition of the successful Daytime Carnival. This year, the event will feature performances by the well-known Edwin Rivera, Pepe Benavente, and Rafael Flores "El Morocho".

The City Council has reminded that the Carnival of Puerto del Carmen was awarded the 2015 Tourism Distinguished Award in the Event category. The City Council points out that this award, which is given annually by the Cabildo on the occasion of World Tourism Day, was not granted "in vain", as this festival "is one of the most important, participatory, and colorful events held in Lanzarote". This award recognizes these popular festivals, which "have become a fundamental element for the promotion and tourist projection at the international level of Puerto del Carmen", they emphasize.
