La Vegueta, involved one more year in its festivities, has chosen this weekend the Queen of the Festivities and Miss Yacomar Sociocultural Center. The first award was for Nayara González who represented Radio Tinajo while the miss award went to the representative of the Tinajo hardware store, Patricia Barandio.

Along with the top winners, Guasimira Artilez was also awarded as lady of the queen and representative of Perforaciones y Sondeos La Cañada and Tamara Rivera as lady of the miss representing the bar of the socio-cultural center.

The gala began with an entrance of light, sound and fireworks that preceded the parade of the eight candidates in the typical Canarian costume to the rhythm of music from the islands. This pass was not scored for the jury but served to get a first impression of the aspirants to both beauty awards. Next, the young women paraded in bikinis to finish walking across the stage in an evening dress designed by Willy Díaz.

After the three passes, the jury retired to deliberate while the young women waited in their dressing rooms. After a wait that seemed long for the contestants, the jury gave the names of the winners who showed their emotion after receiving the aforementioned awards.
