The attributes of the young Naiara Bellio López convinced the jury that this Friday unanimously decided that the 17-year-old high school graduate would win the title of Miss Yaiza 2012. At the gala, Cristina Simone was also chosen as First Lady of Honor and Yulianni Santa Díaz as Second Lady of Honor. Among the seven people who gave the verdict on the misses was Noemi Merino, First Lady Miss Lanzarote 2005 and contestant of the latest edition of the Gran Hermano program. The public packed the esplanade of the port of Playa Blanca to not miss any detail of the election night.
The attendance and the jury met the thirteen aspirants in the opening pass of the gala, which although had the characteristic of not scoring, served to get a first impression of the girls. The young women appeared on stage with a suggestive short dress developing the choreography mounted for the occasion by Ruymán Medina, director of the evening. Those present wrapped the candidates offering them a warm applause and shouting phrases of support.
While the misses were preparing to parade in bikini, the advanced level dancers of the Fashion Scholl school exhibited their artistic qualities in a tribute to Michel Jackson, enough time for the girls' nerves to temper and officially start the dispute of the title. The day before the gala they had lived an authentic day of relaxation thanks to the attentions of the Hotel Costa Calero.
In group and walking upright, they walked across the stage showing their elegance and sympathy to finish winning over the public. Then, one by one, following the path of the red carpet arranged on the platform, they showed themselves in bikini before the jury, thus fulfilling the first scoring pass. At this point of the show, people were already making guesses about their favorites to win the contest, but the final pass in evening dress was still missing.
The misses withdrew from the stage and the presenter of the gala, Guayo Rodríguez, announced the choreography of the children and young people of Fashion Scholl. The dancers infected the public and almost without time to breathe came the turn of the singer Rebeca Márquez. After the successful presentation of Márquez, boys and girls from the municipality of Yaiza offered a fashion show before the appearance of the singer Iraides Torres Santacruz, who performed several songs, including a heartfelt dedication to mothers.
The pass in evening dress came incredibly accompanied by rain. To everyone's surprise, because it is not usual to rain at this time and less in a year of drought, the organization decided to suspend the gala to not spoil the show. Only ten minutes passed and the misses were back on stage to face their last challenge. The thirteen candidates walked imposing in long dress before the watchful eye of the jury and the spectators.
The die was cast and the jury composed of Yamilé Ribera, monitor of the training center for Fashion Mod models; Ana Yuryiga, Lady 2012; Andrés Rodríguez González, from the Andrés Peluqueros group; Toño Aparicio, designer; Darian Coco Bassey, Miss Lanzarote 2012; Yeray Fontes, Mister Lanzarote 2012; and Noemi Merino, retired to deliberate. The public was left in the hands of the Lanzarote comedian Kike Pérez, who dedicated himself to giving an account of the meanness of his childhood and anecdotes of a singular family.
The laughter of the public became abruptly in absolute silence. Marina Santa, secretary of the jury, handed over the sealed envelope with the verdict that awarded the title of Miss Yaiza to Naiara Bellio, it was the end of the reign of Joana Machín, who went on stage to crown her excited successor once the mayor of Yaiza, Gladys Acuña, imposed the band to the new sovereign.
The most awaited decision, that of Miss Yaiza 2012 and her two ladies of honor, was accompanied by other titles that were revealed immediately. Three professionals of the graphic report of the Island also chose Naiara Bellio as Miss Photogenic. The editor of the magazine Yaiza Te Informa, Irma Echeverría, and the photographers Jesús Porteros and Javier Fuentes had delivered their verdict to the Secretariat a day before the gala. It was also known that the misses designated Laura de la Flor Calvillo as the most affable companion, giving her the title of Miss Simpatía.
For its part, the jury also decided Miss Tourist Zone, which went to Alicia Montano; Miss Elegance, Nora Pérez; Miss Summer, Yraya González; and Queen of the Playa Blanca Festivities, Nora Pérez. The first deputy mayor, José Antonio Rodríguez, and representatives of the collaborating commercial firms went on stage to place the bands on the misses.
