The town of Punta Mujeres, in Haría, experienced its big day this Saturday, September 5, with the celebration of the traditional pilgrimage. This is one of the most unique and participatory events of the festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora del Pino, in which more than a thousand people participated, according to data from the Local Police.
The neighbors dressed up for the occasion in typical clothes and took to the streets to enjoy and have a good time with family, friends and anyone who wanted to share this special date in the north of the Island.
This year, the City Council decided to make a change in the route of the pilgrimage, a proposal that the Corporation has described as a "resounding success." Thus, "joy and participation were the characteristic note of a party that in recent years had lost some prominence," they explain.
At the end of the tour in the Church, with the delivery of offerings, the romero dance took place and Evelia García was named senior pilgrim of the Punta Mujeres festivities. In the same way, the attendees were able to enjoy the traditional burning of the pair of coastal residents, made, as usual, by doña Eugenia, to whom the northern Council has thanked "her effort and dedication year after year."
In addition, the Haría City Council wanted to congratulate all the residents "for decorating the barges and making this marine pilgrimage of El Pino such an original and colorful event." The Council highlights "the high participation and the good atmosphere prevailing throughout the day."
