Teguise managed to gather more than 350 people this Sunday around a popular event "in favor of the elimination of gender violence", which celebrates its international day this Thursday, November 25.
The 5-kilometer race organized by the Equality area of Teguise dyed the maritime avenue of Costa Teguise in purple, where the first edition of the new municipal proposal ran: "Teguise+Purple". This race warmed up engines "with a zumba class with Tony Byang", and also featured the participation of a young artist from Teguise, Idafane, who "designed a commemorative mural where all those registered could leave their mark."
"Very grateful and satisfied with the response of so many people who have left their mark and have made history in this arduous path of fighting against gender violence and who have mobilized in favor of awareness and equality," said the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, after participating in the race with his government team and hundreds of women and men, who have contributed "to making visible and raising public awareness regarding the elimination of all forms of violence against women."
The councilor, Isidro Alonso, has made a positive assessment of this sporting event "which adds to the work carried out by the human team of the Department of Equality and Social Welfare during the rest of the year." "We thank the social groups and the people who have been part of this challenge and who have managed to transmit to the rest of the population that we have to continue advancing towards social equality," added the councilor of the area.
In addition to this symbolic race, Teguise adds that on November 15 it had the participation of the Social Educator, specialist in Gender Violence and survivor, Marina Marroquí, "who does a disseminating work to make visible all the violence that women continue to suffer, and who transmitted her experience and training in the matter to many people from different social fields."
